We are a dance studio driven by excellence through discipline and dedication!

Doesn’t every girl deserve to be a princess? At Bella Ballet, we think so! Bella Ballet is a traditional dance studio with a hint of magic. The character of Bella, the books, music, progressive curriculum, and costumes are all created by owner, Hope MacDonald to ensure that children are given a strong foundation to ballet in a jovial, exciting way. The original character of Bella, the enchanting ballerina takes ballet and imagination to a whole new level. Original books and music that directly correlate with the lesson plan of the class identify with young children by showing that you can be a little star with big dreams. In addition to Bella, other classic fairy tales will be a part of the princess experience at Bella Ballet. Tutus, tiaras, sparkles and more will be used to celebrate dance and embrace being a girl.

Bella Ballet’s mission is to provide a quality dance education inspiring children with confidence and self-esteem. Not only will the children be technically trained ballerinas but they have the confidence to be able to be anything they can dream. Through our unique studio not only do we foster a love of dance through our traditional repertoire, grandiose tutus, and fairytale princess environment, but our lead princess continually demonstrates vales to help build strong and confident woman. By providing our students with a positive role models as their teachers who demonstrates “princess etiquette” we are empowering our students with leadership skills, values, reinforcement of anti-bullying and respecting each other, kindness, and of course love.

Meet Miss Hope

Hope MacDonald has been a teacher, manager,Director of Dance and founder of a successful dance program for the past ten years. She has an extensive background in business, marketing, musical theater, tap, jazz, ballet and gained experience through her studies at Shenandoah Conservatory with concentration in Musical Theater and Dance. She has coached a local poms squad as well as is a collegiate poms competition judge. She was a four time nominee and recipient of the prestigious Cappie Award of “Best Female Dancer’ and “Best Choreographer” presented at the Kennedy Centre. She has preformed at various local venues including– The Olney Theatre and Kennedy Centre where she starred as “Cosette” in Les Miserable, “Reno” in Anything Goes, and “Halie” in Buried Child. She has performed and choreographed over 25 musicals in area.

After teaching more than 2000 students in the past 10 years, from the ages of 2-18 and having top ranking competition teams which mainly focused on the older dancer, Hope felt that there needed to be more focus on the younger dancer to order to build the strongest older dance possible. She felt that young children were not focused on in the manner they deserved and wanted that to change. Hence the creation of Bella Ballet!Additionally, Hope is heavily involved in a multitude of organization including Living your Dream Organization, Shared Hope Association, which both helps children victimized in Human Trafficking, as well as Make- A-Wish- Mid Atlantic. Hope aspires to bring dance nationally to all children as an outlet to feel safe being who they are no matter what their circumstances are.

A Message From Miss Hope!

I can honestly say, I love what I do and Bella Ballet is not a “job” for me but a dream. Each day, I get the beautiful opportunity to teach the gift of dance to such incredible children and that is a true honor to do what I do. From teaching our students and seeing them achieve a combination that they have been working on, to the excitement getting ready to perform on stage, it’s just a glimpse of the beauty of our studio and what I get to see on a daily basis. The ability to guide our students in dance and in life is such a powerful thing that we are blessed to be able to do. From giving a little lady a big snuggle if they had a bad day, to going to support a student in their schools talent show, we have created a Bella Ballet family with a circle of love and support.

We are not a corporate owned dance school, we know each student and have created a Bella family. This family helps to even further our students with a true feeling of acceptance, love, and empowerment while helping to teach the values of kindness, confidence, respect, and anti-bullying. We want our students to come to Bella Ballet, take a deep breathe and have dance be their outlet, their safe place, to be able to open up and be themselves and be it proud.

“The Best Teacher”

Miss Hope introduced our 2.5-year-old daughter to dance and she has, by far, been the best teacher our daughter has known. Hope possesses an enthusiasm for dance that is infectious not only for her students, but also for their parents. Her passion for teaching dance is obvious and shines brightest in the classroom where the love shared between her and her students is palpable. Through positive reinforcement and leading by example, she controls her classroom masterfully which results in an experience rich in skill development with lots and lots of fun!

“She clearly has a special talent for working with children…”

Ms. MacDonald clearly has a way with young children. She is patient, energetic and obviously enjoys her profession. Ms. MacDonald took the time to focus on each child individually and provided them encouragement and direction in a manner that was highly conducive to learning and finding great pleasure in the activity. She is adept at translating ballet concepts and techniques into terms children can understand and appreciate. She uses a variety of educational techniques to demonstrate dance concepts, while addressing the multiple learning styles of the children (i.e. reading books, dressing-up, playing “pretend”).

“Creates a wonderful fairytale land that every princess must experience…”

Hope MacDonald of Bella Ballet creates a wonderful fairytale land that every princess must experience. Thank you for making my daughters first exposure to ballet such a memorable experience! She can’t wait for her next class.

“…a beautiful experience for not only our daughter but for our whole family.”

Dancing with Miss Hope is like taking lessons from a real live Disney Princess! From the moment you enter her studio, Miss Hope is larger than life and her energy transfers to the little girls as excitement and love for dancing. Dance instruction is infused with make-believe play in which every girl is a “ballerina princess.” I catch myself peeking into the studio windows to witness the magical fun my daughter is experiencing. This is a fun part about having a little girl!

“You cannot go wrong by choosing Miss Hope and Bella Ballet as your child’s dance studio”

If you are looking for an amazing and confidence building dance studio for your little one, you have come to the right place! Hope is so great with the kids and so professional. We are blessed to know Hope outside of the studio and I can honestly say she is a young woman who has an exciting future ahead of her! She is kind and giving and truly loves to teach.

Miss Hope is an amazing ballet teacher!

My daughter just loves her and looks forward to her class each week. She has learned so much in short period of time and I even catch her practicing on her own. You can truly see how much Miss Hope cares for each of her students and adjusts her teaching style to fit each student’s needs. My daughter has just bloomed since she started Miss Hope’s ballet class.
