MEET OUR TEACHERS
Each team member here at Bella Ballet gives their heart and soul to our kiddies and we couldn’t be more blessed with such a phenomenal team of ladies!
Hope MacDonald has been a teacher, manager, director of dance, and founder of our successful dance program for the past ten years. She has an extensive background in business, marketing, musical theater, tap, jazz, and ballet – she gained experience through her studies at the Shenandoah Conservatory with a concentration in Musical Theater and Dance. Hope has coached a local poms squad and is a collegiate poms competition judge. She was a four-time nominee and recipient of the prestigious Cappie Award for “Best Female Dancer” and “Best Choreographer,” presented at the Kennedy Centre. She has performed at various local venues including the Olney Theatre and Kennedy Centre, where she starred as “Cosette” in Les Misérables, “Reno” in Anything Goes, and “Halie” in Buried Child. She has performed in and choreographed more than 25 musicals.
After teaching over 2,000 students in the past 10 years, from the ages of 2-18, and having top- ranking competition teams which mainly focused on the older dancer, Hope felt that there should be more focus on the younger dancer. Hence, the creation of Bella Ballet, and our enchanting ballerina princess, Bella! Additionally, Hope is heavily involved in a multitude of organizations including Living your Dream and the Shared Hope Association, both help children victimized in human trafficking. Hope aspires to bring dance nationally to all children as an outlet to feel safe being who they are no matter what their circumstances.
Miss Jackie has been with Bella Ballet since 2015. She started as a part-time administrator, and has grown through her love Bella Ballet to become our full-time Creative Director. She co-teaches Princess Ballet classes, in addition to organizing events and our philanthropic endeavors. Being a mom of two young boys who love dinosaurs and video games, she is able to get her fix of pink, sparkle, and tutu’s each day at the studio. “Bella Ballet has really given me the confidence to be a strong woman and a leader. I am so proud to be able to instill these life changing characteristics into our students on a daily basis!”
Miss Michelle began dancing at age 4. As she will tell you, it’s been in her blood since she was born! Her first learned dance was the Salsa. Her Latin culture has brought her a great range of experience in dance. While in high school, she participated in hip hop and step competitions. She has always been able to adapt to any music. She always gives a 100%, and always able to fall and get back up! Since joining the Bella Ballet team, Miss Michelle has used her platform to inspire our girls of the new generation. She uses dance to build their confidence and all over best version of themselves. “Personally building the relationships with our beautiful dancers has been such a sweet treat while watching them grow into beautiful and confident girls. It’s the best feeling a teacher could have!”
Miss Micaela has come to Bella Ballet all the way from Pleasanton, California. She began her dance story at age 3, and hasn’t stopped dancing since! Miss Micaela is trained in a variety of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. She competed on her high school pom team and was a member of the dance team at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She recently moved to Maryland and started teaching at Bella Ballet shortly after. She loves getting to help build confidence in our dancers and showing them to love dance as much as she does. We are so happy to have her as a part of our Bella Ballet Family!
Miss Taylor is a current college student studying to become a nurse. She has been dancing since she was 2.5 years old and hasn’t stopped since. Miss Taylor is experience in ballet, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, modern, tap, broadway, and contemporary. She danced competitively for 7 years as well as being involved in her high school’s Rock n, Roll revival production for 3 years as a main dancer and lead singer. Starting in 2014 Miss Taylor joined Bella Ballet to continue to educate young dancers and help them achieve their full potential. She makes it her goal for dance to be viewed as a form of art and expression for everyone who wishes to join. She believes that through dance you can tell your story. She wants each and every student to be able to tell it in their own way.
Miss Hailey is a current student at Quince Orchard High School, and is a member of their pom team. She has been dancing all her life, starting at age 3. She has experience in ballet, lyrical, contemporary, modern, jazz, Broadway, pom, and hip hop. She has had the pleasure to dance competitively for three years, and has performed in many showcases. Currently, she gets to showcase her talents at her high school’s football games, basketball games, and county pom competitions. Miss Hailey joined the team at Bella Ballet in order to share her genuine passion for dance with the children. She hopes to encourage them to use dance as an outlet and to not be afraid to express themselves through their movement. She believes that dance is an amazing art, and is so glad she is able to see this passion grow in the students she works with.
Miss Leah has been a teacher of all sorts for about 19 years. She taught her three daughters at home and is now a substitute teacher. She has always loved ballet and it was her childhood dream to learn it. Unfortunately, she was only able to take dance for 2 month at age 16. “Working for Bella Ballet has allowed me to in some way make that dream come back to life. I love seeing all the joy-filled faces as they twirl and leap across the floor, and every once in a while I am asked to sub for a co-teacher and be a ballerina. Bella Ballet is an amazing place to work and I am so thankful!”
Miss Christine is new to Bella Ballet after learning about the studio at a local community service event. She began dancing at age 5 learning traditional ballet under the Royal Academy of Dance. She danced ballet for 12 years and has performed in countless performances and recitals. She was also a member of her high school’s Dance Company. Although she took a break from dance for a while, Miss Christine is ecstatic to be back in the studio wearing tutus again! She is also excited to be on the teaching side of ballet and hopes to inspire her students to use dance as a creative outlet. She also hopes her students fall in love with the beautiful art just like she did!
Miss Addie is new to Bella Ballet, but not to dance and musical theater. She began studying tap, jazz, and acting at age 7. She mostly performs with HST Cultural Arts. In addition, Miss Addie plays select soccer and is a member of the Montgomery County Jersey Calf 4-H Club. Addie is thankful for the opportunity to teach at Bella Ballet, and excited to share her love of dance and theater with her little princesses.
